Pupils and staff at Hyde’s Flowery Field Primary are celebrating their school’s 50th anniversary with the start of construction on a new building.

The school is the first of four being rebuilt in Tameside as a
result of the Council’s successful bid to the Department for Education through the Priority School Building Programme – which aims to replace schools in the worst condition across England.

The other schools are Silver Springs Primary Academy in Stalybridge, Holden Clough and Broadoak primary schools in Ashton.

More on this story in this week’s Tameside Reporter out now.
