CCTV footage of armed robbery in Clayton.
Friday 6th March 2015 @ 16:01 by Anna Fletcher

Police have released CCTV footage of an armed robbery at a pub in North Manchester.

At around 12:40pm on Saturday 7 February 2015, two men wearing balaclavas and armed with a machete and half a pool cue entered the Strawberry Duck pub on Crabtree Lane in Clayton.

The men locked themselves and the occupants of the pub inside by putting the bolt across the door before rushing behind the bar and threatening two pub staff members until they opened the till.

After leading everybody who was downstairs into the pub’s cabaret room and using cable ties to restrain two customers and the bar staff, the machete wielding offender went in search of more cash before then restraining the landlord with cable ties.

The two men then left the pub with a quantity of cash and ran off down the canal in the direction of the city centre and were seen crossing over lock 12 shortly afterwards.

CCTV footage of the robbery has now been released in the hopes of identifying the offenders.

Detective Constable Alexander Day said: “Almost four weeks has passed since the robbery and I hope that by releasing this footage it might help to identify who the two men responsible for this terrible incident are.

“This is still very much an active investigation and I would like to reassure anyone who may have been concerned by the events of that day that we are committed to finding the offenders.

“I would also like to pay tribute to the pub’s owners and staff who managed to stay calm and reassure the customers who had been caught up in this terrifying situation.

“If anybody has any information at all, no matter how little you might think it is, then please contact the police.”
