The Ashton based side were crowned as Lancashire CC Disability Champions following a remarkable display against Manor High, Trafford.

Samuel Laycock cruised to victory with 300 runs thanks to a highly competitive display from Ben Priest Lester.

The youngster first became acquainted with the sport in year seven and has developed a taste for it ever since.

Ben’s masterful display – which included four sixes in one over – ensured his side would return to Tameside with the much revered silverware.

Teacher Ernie Greenwood said: “This tournament is important to schools such as ours as it’s an introduction to competitive cricket.

“The pupils get a tremendous boost to their self esteem and want to play more cricket.

“This simplified version of the game is exciting and has the basics of cricket in a short format.

“We appreciate Lancashire cricket Club giving us the chance to experience this.”
