Military personnel buried in Hyde cemetery have been honoured with a plaque commemorating their service during the First and Second World War.

The plaque gives names, ages and units as well as details of the first, last, oldest and youngest to die, and was unveiled by Cllr Joe Kitchen and Ron Andrews.

Eighty-four-year-old Ron was the brains behind the idea and spent five and-a-half years
carrying out research for the memorial.

Full story in this week’s Tameside Reporter, plus tune into Tameside Today News at 2pm and the Reporter Show at 7pm tonight for special reports about the unveiling ceremony.
