Services of Remembrance to honour the fallen of two world wars and conflicts since will be held in Ashton and Hyde Godley this Remembrance Day (Wednesday).

There will be a two-minute silence at the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of this eleventh month – marking the anniversary of the end of World War One.

Thousands of people locally attended parades and services across Tameside and Glossop to pay their respects to those who made the ultimate sacrifice. There will be full coverage of those parades and services in this week’s Tameside Reporter and Glossop Chronicle.

Remembrance Day Services

Ashton  Central

Act of Remembrance to be held at the ‘Family Statue’ on Market Street/Fletcher Street (pedestrianised area at the side of Ashton Market Hall). The ceremony will include a two-minute silence at 11am.

Hyde Godley

Service of Remembrance and Wreath Laying Ceremony to be held at the War Memorial on Godley Hill Road at 10.50am.

• St Paul’s Church, Stalybridge, is hosting two services this Sunday. The Remembrance Service starts at 10.30am, while the evening service, which is being held for bereaved families, is taking place at 6.30pm. Everyone is welcome to join the commemorations.

Glossop Norfolk Square

Act of Remembrance with two-minute silence at 11am.
