It was a day of fun in the water when local charity Crossroads Derbyshire invited people to join them for a Santa Splash in Glossop Pool.

The day-long event offered something for all the family.

Even a watery challenge match between Glossop North End and Glossop Rugby Club!

The day started with a children’s aqua scooters session, quickly followed by an aquafit class offering a great chance to try out a new activity for those who hadn’t been before.

Swimmers then tackled the Swim a Mile challenge.

Twelve managed the full distance raising sponsorship cash along the way.

Swimmers of all ages took part, with the youngest just 10 years old.

A medal and mince pie was their reward.

Families then had a chance to have fun in the pool.

It was a full house, with children greeting two special guests, Father Christmas and Elsa from the film Frozen.

Then it was the sporting challenge North End and the rugby lads went head to head in a game of water polo.

Neither team had played before, with Glossop Rugby Club winning 5-2. A rematch is now planned!

Glossop-based Crossroads Derbyshire would like to say a huge thank you to Places for People Ltd and all the staff for donating their time and facilities free of charge.

The charity also thanked Glossop Mountain Rescue Team for persuading Father Christmas to spare the time to visit.

They also thanked everyone who volunteered their time, donated items for the tombola, went along to take part or sponsored the swimmers.

Thanks to everyone’s hard work, the charity raised more than £700 to support families in the High Peak.
