Town centre trader Roland ‘Roly ‘ Holroyd is hoping England make it all way to the finals of the European Championships.

The front of his ‘Pick a Card’ shop in Norfolk Street, Glossop, is plastered with the Cross of St George flags.

With excitement reaching fever pitch, the sales of flags and bunting are booming.

Roly has been supplying decorations for every major international tournament and patriotic occasions for more than 25 years.

When England are going for glory, he’s always busy.

He told the Chronicle: “I’ve sold dozens of England and Union Jack flags to most of the pubs, care homes and businesses in Glossop already.

“Because I’ve been selling them for so long, people know where to come now.

“I’ve done everything – World Cups, the Jubilee, royal weddings and the Queen’s birthdays.

“I’ve got thousands in stock as I buy and sell in bulk. They vary in price but the least  expensive is only £2.50.”

Roly, whose shop front is a sea of white and red, is even catering for fans who don’t follow the ‘Three Lions’.

He’s got flags of various different nations, including Spain and Northern Ireland.

With the Olympic Games in Brazil coming up, Roly could be set for another profitable patriotic period.
