A heated dispute took place between two people near canal boats in Whaley Bridge last month.

The disturbance happened near boats moored close to the bridge that leads to Tesco, off Buxton Road, between 11.30pm and midnight on Friday, September 23.

Police officers investigating the disturbance want to speak to anyone who was in the area between those times.

They also want to speak to any canal boat owners or residents who were moored in the same location or nearby Whaley Bridge on that date.

In particular, officers want to speak to the owners or occupants of boats called ‘Maggie-Anne’ and ‘Trojan’, which were moored at the site where the incident took place.

Witnesses or anyone with information should call DC Vanessa Barry on 101, quoting reference 16000292055.
