Temporary traffic lights have now come down in Glossop town centre after being in operation for four days.

The lights went up on Tuesday morning (October 11) on the junction between High Street West and High Street East, after a business on High Street East experienced difficulties with their water supply.

On contacting United Utilities, the leak forced them to knock off the supply to the main lights.

It caused disruption for residents and commuters, who found themselves stuck in long queues particularly during rush hour.

A Derbyshire County Council spokesperson said the shutting down of the lights was a necessary measure and promised the traffic lights would be back in action by Monday (October 17).
