A specialist page has now been created to highlight the issues of wildlife crime on Facebook.

Wildlife crime officers in Derbyshire have created a Facebook page which will be dedicated to raising awareness of wildlife crime in the county.

As well as raising awareness the aim of the page is to raise the profile of the wildlife crime officers and the issues that they deal with and to encourage people to report these types of crimes.

PC Emerson Buckingham, the force’s wildlife crime officer, said: “The Peak District is very rich in wildlife and diversity but unfortunately there are people who exploit our wildlife for no legitimate reason.

“Hopefully this page will help to raise awareness of issues that affect wildlife in our county and the crimes associated with them.

The page will be used to advertise where and when the wildlife crime officers are attending events and to promote times when the public will have an opportunity to meet the officers to discuss any issues.

The Facebook page is called Derbyshire Constabulary Wildlife Officers.
