Tintwistle Athletic Reserves gained revenge on Mellor 3rds with a 3-2 victory in an entertaining match on Saturday.

Athletic got off to a bad start conceding an early goal. They then started to get their passing game going and drew level due to a mistake from the Mellor keeper, leaving Sam Swann with an empty net. Tintwistle then took the lead after some brilliant individual play from James Wilson.

A much tighter second half witnessed some end to end play with Liam Amos pulling off some great saves, however Mellor drew level after a good finish. With time running out, Ben Taylor made a surging run from midfield only to be upended outside the box.

Up stepped captain Sam Swann to rifle the free kick into the top corner, giving the reserves a well-deserved 3-2 win.

Meanwhile, Tintwistle Athletic 3rds moved up to second in the B Division after a 3-2 away win Milton Reserves.

Tintwistle Athletic U12’s Blues put in a heroic performance in their game against top of the table Avro FC. Arthur Britton scored all three goals as Athletic ran the leaders close.

Elsewhere, U11 Blacks put in a strong footballing performance, with goals from Matteo (3), Iñigo, Andre and James. Daniel P and Daniel K shared the man of the match award.

U11 Blues showed great grit and determination in terrible conditions. Goals from Jack M (2), Brandon and Oscar. Man of the match was Jake, who was solid in defence.
