Hadfield people were swapping shopping bags for bin bags to take part in Cllr Ed Kelly’s latest community clean up.

Once again, there were people of all ages picking up litter pickers to spruce up their part of Glossopdale.

The Labour councillor said: “It was a major success. Thanks to everyone who found time, we are starting to make a difference on the levels of litter.”

He promised: “We are in it for the long haul.”

The clean-up team met in Hadfield train station car park and for a couple of hours spread out to tackle nearby grot spots.

Help came from the local cub groups, Hadfield Coming Together Community Group, the Friends of Hadfield Hall, Hadfield Methodist Church, plus Hadfield mums and their children.

Also getting involved were Cllrs Anthony McKeown, Damien Greenhalgh and Nick Longis and county council election candidate Sheila Yamin.

The next community clean-up is on Saturday, March 5.
