High Peak’s MP is urging local charities to help get a special project off the ground by applying for a share of the People’s Postcode Lottery.

Andrew Bingham says £6m is up for grabs and that he will support any good cause which makes a bid.

Cash is on offer for projects ranging from supporting wildlife and equal rights to grassroots sport and art.

The first round of applications which asks charities to submit an ‘expression of interest’ form ends on February 10.

Mr Bingham said: “This funding will be allocated to lots of different types of initiatives and it’s a great opportunity for local charities to get additional support, so I’d urge local charities to look at it and apply now.

“If any charity would like my support in their application, in the form of a supportive letter, then please let me know.”

For information on how to apply for funding, you can go to www.postcodetrust.org.uk, www.postcodelocaltrust.org.uk or www.postcodecommunitytrust.org.uk.
