It was another busy and rewarding weekend for the Glossop Juniors football teams.

The Under 8s Blues played their final game of the season against Stalybridge Celtic in the East Manchester Junior Football League Prem. The boys played some great football with plenty of well-taken goals. Goals came from Frazer (2), Jayden, Alex, Will, and an own goal.

Under 8s Whites played their penultimate game of the season in the EMJFL Championship against Denton Youth. It was a really hard-fought encounter by two evenly matched sides. There was some great football and goalkeeping from both sides. Glossop’s goals came from Scott and one for Man of the Match, Thomas.

Under 8s Reds played Hayfield in the High Peak Junior Football League on Sunday. A great start by Reds soon changed to a frantic chasing game after conceding some early second-half goals. Some great football was then played to finish a brilliant encounter. Goals came from Toby (2), Arlie and two for Man of the Match, Asa.

Under 9s Reds played Elite Soccer in the HPJFL. It was a tough encounter and another game which showed the qualities the side possess throughout. A mixture of hard work and skill led to goals from Luke (3), Frazer and a bullet header from Alex. Man of the Match was Matt.

There were two fantastic displays from the Under 9 Girls on Saturday morning. Their improvement week on week is clear in their passing, movement, tackling and finishing abilities. Goals came from Charlotte and an absolute ‘worldie’ from Kieya, with both girls picking up deserved Girl of the Game awards.

The Under 9s Blues played their penultimate game in the Premiership, this time going down to a Curzon side keen to put their cup exit at Glossop hands behind them. Rhys and Harry scored the goals for GNE and the parents’ Man of the Match, Cole. The Whites had a tough game against Reddish in their last 1st Division game. George and Dan scored, with Dan being awarded the parents’ Man of the Match.

Following last week’s Cup Final loss, the Under 16 Blues’ game against Withington could have gone one of two ways. Thankfully for Glossop, there was a positive reaction to that disappointment with the Boys recording a 7-2 win on Sunday.

Every single player put in a real shift and their was a hunger, desire and maturity about their play. Goals came from Tom, with a training ground corner, Lewis, Harry N, Charlie (2), Paris and Sam H. Man of the Match went to Harry N for his tireless work, three assists and a cracking goal.
