A building in Hadfield which has had many uses over the years has now been converted into offices.

The offices in Kingsmoor, which had been under renovation for the past year, were officially opened recently by local councillor Nick Longos.

The building has had a broad range of different uses over the years – from being a former school and a function venue to an Indian restaurant, video hire shop, bowling alley and most recently a Chinese restaurant.

It’s been taken over by computer training and consultancy company Wise Owl, who have been based in the area for around two decades.

Six of the seven-strong team live locally in Glossopdale, while Kingsmoor House will be the admin office for the company, whose training offices are based in Manchester and London.

Starting out in 1994, the husband and wife team then began employing more local staff , before a 3rd partner came on board.

Wise Owl held an open coffee & cake morning to allow residents to have a look around the former school/skittles alley and to meet the Wise Owl staff.

Co-director Jenny Brown said: “It was lovely way to meet our new neighbours and to give them the opportunity to have a look around the newly renovated offices – especially those that were former pupils of the old Kingsmoor school or came bowling here.

“Councillor Nick Longos has been very helpful whenever we’ve hit a problem, so it was lovely that he could officiate. It’s going to be a great place to work in.”
