Reports Sports Tintwistle

Tintwistle Athletic’s First Team were drawn at home in their first game in the Murray Trophy competition against Breightmet Utd.

Athletic dominated play from the start with some great passing, however, it took 30 minutes before Josh Stevenson found the back of the net. After half-time, Athletic continued to dominate and the second came directly from the corner kick of Sam Swann. At 2-0 the game was over. An outstanding performance in defence from Mike Kennedy
ensured Athletic sealed the victory.

Meanwhile, Tintwistle Athletic Reserves came away with a 2-0 victory in the Bridgewater cup tie with Bolton County Reserves. A tight first half saw few chances created but, in the second half, Tintwistle took control and got into their passing rhythm. They took the lead with a fine strike from Tom George and then James Wilson ran onto a through ball, rounded the keeper and scored to make the game safe in the closing stages. It was a good all-round team performance, with Wes Barker putting in a Man of the Match performance for the second game running.

There was also a great performance by Tintwistle Athletic Under 15s, who came back from 4-0 down to win 7-5 against Inter Cheadle.

Tintwistle Athletic Under 13s’ Sunday team got off to the perfect start with a 4-2 win away at Stockport Dynamos Yellows.

Tintwistle Athletic Under 12s Blues had a much better performance last weekend. The lads lost 5-2 but were 4-0 at half-time and played some good football in the second half. The goals were scored by Oliver and Brandon. The Man of the Match was James.

Tintwistle Athletic Under 12s Blacks put in an excellent performance in a 4-1 win. The team were solid throughout
and the goals came from Matteo (2), Matthew and James. Man of the Match was Asa.
