Adam Jones has been voted Glossop North End’s Player of the Month for October by the club’s supporters.

Although North End only kept one clean sheet during the month, the defender was in fine form, playing in six of the Hillmen’s seven games in all competitions – only missing the Integro Doodson League Cup loss to Mossley on penalties.

He also wore the captain’s armband for the final three games of October, which were all at home – the Manchester Premier Cup defeat at the hands of Trafford, the 3-2 FA Trophy win over Matlock Town, in which he scored the winning goal, and the 2-1 league success over Scarborough Athletic.

The decisive goal against Matlock was the former Hyde United and Stalybridge Celtic man’s fourth goal already this term, having also notched three times in September, also all at Surrey Street – in the 5-2 win over Brighouse Town, 2-1 victory over Kendal Town and 3-1 success against Colne.

He also started as skipper for the Hillmen’s thrilling 4-3 FA Trophy victory over Leek Town at Surrey Street last Saturday but was forced off injured after just eight minutes.

Jones was instead presented with his award after Glossop’s 1-0 defeat at home to Tadcaster Albion in the Evo-Stik First Division North on Saturday.
