Calls for speed signs on busy Simmondley road

Villagers calling for speed warning signs on Simmondley’s High Lane could have some evidence to back up their claims.

Charlesworth Parish Council heard at their latest meeting how crossing the road to get to and from the pre-school could be hazardous.

The problem is a bend just yards from the school, with some drivers not realising there is a building just around the corner.

Locals are now calling for a school flashing warning sign.

Figures from a 2012 traffic survey may help them get it.

It revealed that in just one day, 4,327 vehicles were logged on High Lane, with 2,000 going faster than 30 miles an hour.
