Courtney Meppen-Walter has been named Glossop North End’s Player of the Month for November by the club’s supporters.

The former Manchester City youth player – who has also represented Carlisle United and Stockport County – has been a mainstay for the Hillmen under Paul Phillips and Steve Halford this season.

The defensive midfielder has made 26 appearances in all competitions since arriving at Surrey Street in the summer and has chipped in with seven goals so far – three of which have come from the penalty spot – as well as setting up several goals for team-mates.

He was presented with his award after North End’s 1-0 derby victory at home to Mossley on Boxing Day by GNE Supporters Club commitee member Wendy Rimmer.

Meppen-Walter was a standout figure throughout November and scored what proved to be the decisive goal in the Hillmen’s dramatic 4-3 win over Leek Town in the FA Trophy – the last occasion he found the net.

It comes after Jude Oyibo was named August’s star man, Ben Deegan picked up the prize for September and Adam Jones topped October’s poll.
