Police have described a blaze which destroyed a camper van in Glossop on Sunday afternoon as arson.

Firefighters from Glossop Fire Station’s Blue Watch were called to the burning van in Victoria Street at around 4.30pm.

They fought the flames with two of the crew in breathing apparatus and two hose reel jets.

But the vehicle was still burned out.

Police subsequently went door-to-door asking neighbours if they had seen anything suspicious.

They also wanted to check to see if their CCTV systems had picked up anything that could help.

Anyone with information is asked to call PC Craig Booth on 101, quoting the reference number 184056223.
