Sharing the love on Valentine’s Day

Hampers of sweets carrying a message of love are leaving a High Peak factory on their way to heroes all over the UK.

Swizzels who make Love Hearts by the million are marking Valentine’s Day by rewarding those who go the extra mile to help others.

And the nationally known New Mills company is doing it by what it calls ‘random acts of kindness’.

In a bid to ‘boost positivity’ and thank unsung heroes, Swizzels is sending sweet gift hampers to deserving organisations up and down the country.

Part of its #ShareTheLove campaign, the company has already delivered them to High Peak’s Blythe House Hospice, The Christie,  Anxiety UK, Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital and St Ann’s Hospice, among other public service and not-for-profit organisations that go ‘above and beyond’ to support others.

In the run up to Saturday’s National Random Act of Kindness Day, Swizzels is now looking for people to nominate local heroes who have made a real difference to their lives.

From volunteer groups and emergency services teams, to care workers and support groups, nominated organisations will be chosen at random to receive a Love Hearts sweet hamper as a way of saying thank you. Swizzels will select a winner a week until March 31.

You can enter by visiting www.swizzels.com/heroes, or by posting a nomination on social media using #ShareTheLove.

Clare Lynch, brand manager at Swizzels, said:”‘We know that people are under pressure on a daily basis,  they have hectic lives and don’t always get the chance to thank the people who help them.

“Through our campaign we want to acknowledge these people with a small gesture of thanks and invite others to do the same.

‘‘We aim to share the love as far and wide as possible and encourage people to join our #ShareTheLove campaign, which focusses on expressing messages of love in unique ways, not just romantically.’’

Swizzels, the UK’s largest family-owned independent sugar confectionery business and one of the few confectionery companies to still manufacture sweets in the country,  also makes a range of well-known products including Refreshers, Drumstick Lollies, Rainbow Drops, Double Lollies and Fruity Pops.
