Snake Pass stays shut but likely to re-open tomorrow

The A57 Snake Pass and Monks road – between Chunal & Charlesworth – will remain closed tonight due to the previous heavy snow, Derbyshire County Council states

However, as the slow thaw continues and temperatures gradually increase, it is expected that the routes will be re-opened during the course of the day tomorrow.

The council says its snow clearance teams, including farmer contractors with JCBs, have been digging out snow-laden routes in the High Peak and work to address issues on some side roads in the area will resume in the morning.

Road temperatures are expected to remain above freezing across most of the county but our gritters will be out treating high routes from 9pm where temperatures are expected to dip.
