Glossop North End have announced a new director ahead of Saturday’s home clash against Market Drayton Town in the Evo-Stik West.

Dan Bates, who became involved with the club last year as the match day announcer, will take on his role with immediate effect.

Following the announcement, Dan offered his thoughts on the club’s official website. He said: “I am very pleased to be joining the Board of Glossop North End. Some of you will have already heard me before here at Surrey Street as I first became involved with the club as the match day
announcer last year.

“Being the voice of Glossop North End is a role I continue to enjoy on match days alongside looking after aspects of the club’s media activities.

“Through the club’s media platforms, we are trying to make you, our valued supporters, feel more involved with your local football club and bringing the club closer to the fans and putting the family back into GNE.

“In my working life, I am
involved in the operation of multiple small businesses in the High Peak area and consider myself to have a solid business background.

“This, combined with my passion for football and Glossop North End, means I feel I have a lot to bring to the club and look forward to helping to move things forward.

“Our hard-working volunteers are the life and soul of the club. Within my new role on the board I will be involved in developing additional volunteer support so if you’ve got something you’d like to discuss or are interested in becoming a volunteer then please don’t hesitate to speak to me.

“I’m always in and around the ground on match days, come and say hi! I look forward to meeting you!”

Glossop were without a fixture last weekend due to their elimination from the FA Trophy. However, Peter Band and Lloyd Morrison will be hoping to pick up their first points in charge of the club and move the Hillmen off the foot of the table on Saturday.
