Youngsters look the part thanks to kit sponsorship

Hollingworth Juniors are the talk of the town after receiving financial support from an Oldham-based business.

MBC Building Contractors, from Chadderton, have donated £1,000 towards brand new kits and tracksuits for the forthcoming season, while two coaches will also enrol on an FA Level One coaching course thanks to the company’s generosity.

The company, which now has its name and logo emblazoned on the match day shirt, is a big supporter of grassroots football and giving back to the community. According to director Mark Brierley, supporting the club financially was a ‘no brainer’ and something he’s proud of. Speaking to Chronicle Sport, he said: “The money has gone towards not only being the match shirt sponsor but paying for training tracksuits for the players which we felt was important with the winter months approaching & sending two coaches on FA level one coaching courses. We didn’t want to solely sponsor the team to just be the main shirt sponsor; we wanted to give the club enough money to pay for coaching courses so we benefit the children’s future development.”

The company, which was shortlisted in two categories at this year’s North West Construction Awards, including SME of the Year and Project of the Year, believes the sponsorship lays the foundation for a promising future. Mark added: “On the back of our success we wanted to give something back to the local community & felt there was no better place to start than grassroots football & the development of future players & coaches.

“Grassroots football is something that’s close to our hearts & the coaches at Hollingworth do a fantastic job in not only coaching the players & teaching them the basics of the game but developing young person’s character.”

MBC Building Contractors Tom Bunting has a personal tie with the club and the Under 7s in particular, as he lives in Glossop and his son plays for the team. He reserved special praise for the coaches who, according to himself, are fantastic in the work they do with the children. “When the opportunity to get involved with the club came up we jumped at the chance to help out. I can see from the sessions I take my son to the coach’s concentrate on making the session’s fun and enjoyable & developing skills rather than a win at all costs mentality. There is a feel good factor around the training & games and the kids love it. As a sponsor we are proud to help out in whatever way we can & be a part of grass roots development.”
