Athletes put their best feet forward

Budding athletes put their best foot forward earlier this month at the Derbyshire Schools Cross Country event.

The race, which took place in Shipley Country Park, Heanor, was well contested by pupils from Glossopdale and St Phillip Howard.

In the Year Seven boys race, Owen Warburton from Glossopdale came 40th;  Leo Cooper from Glossopdale came 58th; Kai Hughes from Glossopdale finished 59th; and Adam Crompton from St Phillp Howard came 69th.

In the Year Seven girls race, Nia Griffin and Sarah Crompton, both from St Phillip Howard, came 31st and 56th respectively. In doing so they helped the High Peak Team come first.

 The Junior Girls Race was 3.4 km in distance.

May Mannion, from SPH, came ninth, while Rebecca Robinson from Glossopdale placed 38th. Lily Barlow from Glossopdale came 47th; Tily Wilson from SPH placed 65th; and Mary Culleton from Glossopdale 73rd.

 The Junior Boys Race was 3.9 km in distance.

Antony Warburton from Glossopdale came 25th.

The Intermediate girls race was 3.9Km in distance.

Year 10/11 – Rose Barlow from Glossopdale crossed the finish line in a very respectable third place.
