Weekend Review Glossop North End Juniors
Tuesday 15th January 2019 @ 11:02 by Mark Phillip

The Under 9s Blues returned from the Christmas break and put in a fantastic performance. The football at times was great, with little one touch combinations that the opposition couldn’t cope with. Glossop pressed well going forward and always seemed to have options, and at the back they were calm and composed. A flicked header from the smallest player on the pitch, Jacob, plus two strong finishes from Finn and an own goal gave the squad a 4-0 win. Following the win, the manager said: “I was really impressed with every single player, they all did exactly as we asked before the game”. POTM went to Olly who read the game brilliantly and was involved in much of the slick passing play.

There was a tough start for the Under 9 Whites after the winter break. Toby opened the scoring following a well taken corner by Harry G. Laurence. George, Nathan and Jack kept the opposition very quiet with some well timed tackles and blocks. At the end of the first half Harry D scored a fantastic goal taking the ball on the turn and smashing it into the top left corner. The second half was a different story with the Whites really struggling to get out of their own half. Toby was awarded the the Player of the Match for his good link up play.

The Under 9 Reds also played at the weekend and there were some impressive performances from Austin, whose well timed tackles kept the opposition quiet for much of the game, while Max ran hard all game in midfield and Alfie P caused plenty of problems in the second half from the left wing. The Player of the Match was Alfie S who scored a hat-trick of well taken goals.

The Under 16 girls were dominant in their 6-1 victory against Oldham.
