A Glossop man has been charged with attempted murder after an alleged assault on a woman in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Police were called to Sumners Place at 2.30am following reports that a woman had been attacked.

Officers arrested Aaron Booth, 27, of Crosslands Close, Glossop, and he has now been charged with attempted murder.

He is due to appear at Chesterfield Justice Centre tomorrow to face the charge.

Police taped off a wide area around Sumners Place, opposite the Glossop Tesco petrol station, as they carried out investigations throughout yesterday morning and into the afternoon.

The investigations also involved a number of road closures with traffic being diverted away from the scene during the morning.
