Droylsden 1-1 Glossop

Droylsden goalkeeper Chris Thompson was in inspired form as the Bloods shared the points in a 1-1 draw with local rivals Glossop.

Thompson saved a penalty from North End skipper Jack Tuohy correctly guessing and diving into the right hand corner just before the half hour mark as the visitors dominated.

Glossop would have been wondering how they failed to score in the first 45 minutes, earlier Thompson was forced to save low at his near post from a Tuohy free kick while Dom Marie saw his effort from a corner come back off the post, O’Leary then with the goal at his mercy shot over the crossbar.

Adam Latham was guilty of another miss just before half time, shooting wide after being set up by Marie.

Bloods had little to show from the first half but against the run of play took the lead midway through the second half. A counter attack by Ryan Hopper whose cross found the head of Sefton Gonzales for his 19th goal of the season.

A minute later, Thompson was once more called into action, this time saving at close range from Hill while former Blood Samassa headed over unmarked at the far post from a corner.

The visitors deservedly equalised with 12 minutes left on the clock, substitute Adam Etches heading home from close range giving the keeper no chance.

Both teams had chances to win it in the final minutes, Holmes in the North End goal saving well from substitute Makela while Boyle with the goal seemingly at his mercy, failed to keep his shot down with just a minute of normal time remaining.
